Our Missions:

Since Internet Technology developed rapidly, the convenience and popularity of public use internet has been enhanced. Meanwhile internet technology also has impact on individual's cognitive learning, physical and mental development, besides it leads to other social issues which related to internet crime. According to the survey conducted by Department of Psychology, Asia University and Institute of Behavioral Sciences, National Cheng Kung University, 10% to 15% of adolescents and university students confronted serious problem of internet use. Besides they also facing certain social issues such as deviant behavior, physical and mental health problems. Thus, the phenomenon and consequences of internet addiction became the main issues which need more attention from government, academia as well as non-government organization. More other factors such as biological - psychological, social - culture etc. need to be considered and find out the prevention strategies instantly. However, there are no much of relevant empirical research and practical experiences, we still need to involve more resources and systematic plan to guide the development of research, personnel training and tertiary prevention of services, to enhance the positive benefits of Internet technology instead of the negative effects.
 
China Medical University and Asia University have collaborated as China-Asia Associated University fully focus on the development of prevention and treatment for internet addiction. On 24th of July 2012, the first "Center for Prevention and Treatment of Internet Addiction" has been set up and organized by College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Asia University (including Department of Psychology, Social worker, Early Childhood Education and Foreigner Languages & Literature) and Department of Clinical Medicine, China Medical University.

The missions of Center for Internet Addiction Prevention and Treatment:
1. To develop diagnostic instruments and studies in prevention and treatment of internet       addiction.
2. The research findings will become guideline and references for teachers and medical           professionals who involve IA prevention, counseling and psychotherapy.
3.  Promoting effective public education (primary prevention), offering intervention                  services for whom with higher risk becoming internet addicts and internet addicts                (secondary and tertiary prevention).
4. To connect resources from non-government, administrative and legislation, to                     sustain advocacy of internet addiction prevention and treatment.
5. To promote the outcomes of Internet addiction prevention and treatment, broaden the     well-known of our center in Taiwan, Asia and even the world.
